Plungington Community Land Trust Open Day Launch 11am to 2pm on Saturday, 28th January 2023 at the Plungington Community Centre
Do you recognise any of the people in these photos of Emmanuel School from the early 1900s?
Perhaps it’s your mum or dad … one of your grandparents … or some other family member?

Were you at Emmanuel School in 1960 … 1961 … or 1962?
Can you find yourself – or one of your friends – in any of these photos?

… or in the late 1950s?

Perhaps you were in the Emmanuel Church Cricket team that won the Makeson Cup in 1981?
… and do you remember the clergyman here on the left?

… or the Emmanuel School Rounders team in the 1950s?

Did either of these teachers teach you? Do you have any memories to share about them?

As you will perhaps know, we have planning permission to convert the old Emmanuel Church building into 14 affordable housing apartments and a community / worship space, whilst retaining as many of its heritage features as possible – a scheme strongly supported by local Councillor Matthew Brown:
‘As one of the Councillors representing Plungington and as Council Leader, I enthusiastically support the plans to redevelop the former Emmanuel Church as the first Community Land Trust in Central Lancashire. As residents know Plungington has experienced several challenges in recent years, most notably the pandemic and instances of anti-social behaviour. Allowing the community to have direct ownership of an asset which will include new affordable housing will regenerate the area and empower local people. This is everything the Labour led city council believes in, with it further enhancing the Preston Model which makes sure the wealth we produce locally is in the hands of more people.’
Councillor Matthew Brown
Leader of the City Council (Plungington Ward) Labour
